Shaftesbury Capital has confirmed that Arc’teryx, the outdoor apparel and accessories brand from Canada, is set to expand its retail space in Covent Garden with a new flagship store at 42 King Street. This development underscores the brand’s ongoing success and commitment to the area, further enhancing Covent Garden’s reputation as a hub for premium retailers.

Slated to open its doors early next year, the new Arc’teryx store will occupy an 8,000 sq ft area at 42 King Street, representing a fourfold increase in its Covent Garden retail footprint. The store will be situated near other notable brands such as Glossier, Apple, Aēsop, and the iconic Covent Garden Piazza. The store will offer an extensive collection of technical gear, footwear, and accessories for a range of outdoor activities including mountaineering, climbing, hiking, and skiing. The brand’s existing store at 49 Long Acre will continue to operate until the new location opens.

Arc’teryx, known for its durable and high-quality products, initially entered the Covent Garden market two years ago, introducing its first European concept store and featuring some of its most iconic designs.

Michelle McGrath, Executive Director, Shaftesbury Capital, commented:  “Arc’teryx is a leader in the outdoor performance wear sector and having seen a strong performance from their first store in Covent Garden, we are excited to welcome their new enlarged concept on King Street. We always strive to identify opportunities where we can support high growth retailers within our portfolio and the investment in a larger flagship store demonstrates our approach in providing opportunities for existing tenants, as well as new.”

Sven Radtke, EMEA General Manager, Arc’teryx added: “The upsizing in Covent Garden is a very exciting step forward for Arc’teryx. We have seen a lot of success since its opening two years ago and plan to open a bigger store to fully immerse our guests into an elevated experience of our brand.  In this key location within London, the new brand store in Covent Garden will showcase a wider range of products and services for our community to enjoy such as ReBIRD™, our circularity program that focuses on the care and repair, and up-cycling of our products.”

This announcement follows the recent opening of HOKA®, a performance footwear and apparel brand, which launched its first European retail location at 2-3 James Street, covering 1,750 sq ft and offering a complete range of products.
