Shaftesbury Capital has announced the relocation and expansion of Strathberry, the Edinburgh-based brand known for its luxury leather goods, within Covent Garden’s historic Market Building. The move highlights Covent Garden’s enduring appeal as a premier destination for UK-founded luxury brands and consolidates Strathberry’s presence with both an enlarged retail space and a new London office.

Building on the success of its initial store, Strathberry has doubled the size of its boutique in the Market Building to approximately 1,200 square feet. The new unit enables Strathberry to expand its product offerings, including its signature handcrafted leather bags from Spain, exclusive luxury accessories, and on-site personalisation through embossing by its skilled team. Currently, Strathberry operates in over 90 stores worldwide and runs three standalone boutiques, making Covent Garden its largest. Designed with the brand’s minimalist aesthetic, the space features natural materials such as teak and brass, alongside custom-made furniture crafted in Edinburgh. In addition, the new office located beside the expanded store underscores Strathberry’s deeper commitment to London, positioning Covent Garden as both a commercial and operational hub.

William Oliver, Retail Leasing Director at Shaftesbury Capital, remarked on the development, saying, “Shaftesbury Capital takes great pride in the collaborative, long-term relationships we foster with our partners, and Strathberry’s decision to not only significantly upsize their store, but to also open their new London office in Covent Garden, is testament to this. It’s extremely rewarding to see our partners go from strength to strength within the destination and continue to deepen their commitment to the area.”

Guy and Leeanne Hundleby, founders of Strathberry, expressed their enthusiasm for the expansion: “Whilst Strathberry is an internationally recognised brand, known globally for our elegance, outstanding quality and minimalism, the way in which we operate remains focused on the strong-knit relationships we forge, be it with artisans in our workshops, or leading and supportive partners such as Shaftesbury Capital. Working hand-in-glove with Shaftesbury Capital has been a rewarding and fruitful process, which has allowed us to launch our new and enhanced store in Covent Garden. We’ve truly enjoyed being part of such a vibrant area of London over the past couple of years and, by unveiling this beautiful new boutique, we are excited to enter this exciting next chapter of our journey. The new Covent Garden location will become the home of Strathberry in London – both a space where our customers can experience the craftsmanship of our products in person and a London hub for our growing team.”

As Strathberry expands its space, its former unit within the Market Building will now be home to Aspinal, a luxury British lifestyle brand. Aspinal, known for its classic English aesthetic, offers a range of luxury items, including washbags, satchels, and personalisation options. Aspinal’s move to Covent Garden is part of a broader trend among luxury brands establishing a presence in the area. Other upcoming entries include Batch London, an eco-friendly suitwear retailer, and Gandy’s International, an apparel brand inspired by travel, both expected to open later this year. Sustainable menswear brand NN.07 also joined Covent Garden recently, with its first standalone UK store opening in September.
