From January 17th to March 3rd, 2025, MUDEC – The Museum of Cultures of Milan will host “The Creation of a Diva,” a photographic exhibition sponsored by GUESS? Inc.. Curated by art and fashion historian Massimiliano Capella, the exhibition offers visitors an immersive journey through 40 years of GUESS campaigns, highlighting the creative vision of co-founder and Chief Creative Officer Paul Marciano.

This retrospective celebrates the intersection of fashion, photography, and visual storytelling, showcasing GUESS’ ability to turn emerging talent into international icons. It features legendary advertising campaigns captured by renowned photographers such as Ellen von Unwerth, Wayne Maser, Bryan Adams, and Dewey Nicks.

Celebrating GUESS’ Creative Legacy

The exhibition is divided into thematic sections that chronicle the evolution of GUESS from 1981 to today. Visitors will experience the brand’s iconic imagery and its influence on global fashion through photographs of supermodels like Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, and Anna Nicole Smith.

Interactive installations, experiential rooms, and playful lighting effects featuring GUESS’ signature red branding further enhance the visitor experience. This engaging blend of media transforms the exhibition into a modern catwalk that reflects the glamour and bold spirit synonymous with GUESS.

Paul Marciano shared his enthusiasm for the exhibition:
“We are excited to be holding this retrospective at MUDEC. This is a prestigious institution on the Italian cultural scene, and the perfect place to celebrate the evolution of our campaigns, which have marked the history of fashion. This exhibition will offer a unique experience paying tribute to our history.”

An Immersive Fashion Experience

In addition to highlighting GUESS’ contributions to fashion, “The Creation of a Diva” explores how the brand’s campaigns have evolved alongside societal and cultural changes. From its roots in the analogue world of film photography to its seamless integration with the digital age, the exhibition captures GUESS’ adaptability and enduring appeal.

Visitors will also discover behind-the-scenes stories of GUESS’ campaigns and the creative processes that have shaped its instantly recognisable aesthetic. Through interactive exhibits, attendees can engage with the brand’s innovative approach to storytelling.

Milan’s Cultural Landmark Hosts the Exhibition

The exhibition takes place at MUDEC’s Mudec Photo space, a venue dedicated to exploring cultural and artistic intersections. MUDEC’s emphasis on interdisciplinary research and its prestigious reputation make it an ideal setting to celebrate GUESS’ impact on fashion and visual arts.
