Thistles has announced that H&M will be returning to the centre, occupying part of the former Debenhams unit. The new 16,390 sq ft store, set to open in Spring 2025, will offer a comprehensive selection of menswear, womenswear, and kidswear. This development marks H&M’s return to Stirling after a five-year absence. The store will be positioned adjacent to Next, with regional builders Dickie & Moore appointed as contractors for the project, which is already underway.

In addition to H&M’s return, Starbucks has confirmed that it will be opening its first city centre location in Stirling within Thistles. The 3,000 sq ft unit, previously occupied by Carphone Warehouse, is slated to open by Autumn 2024. The introduction of these two major brands is part of Thistles’ broader strategy to enhance its retail offering and attract more visitors to the centre.

Scoop, the asset managers for Thistles, revealed that further lettings are being negotiated with a mix of national and local retailers. Several retailers, including Schuh, CeX, Perfume Shop, Clarks, and Fat Face, have recently renewed or extended their leases, demonstrating continued confidence in Stirling as a vibrant retail destination.

As part of ongoing improvements, Thistles has invested over £3.5 million in refurbishing its car park, which has been closed since the lockdown. The renovation includes resurfacing, redecoration, and the installation of energy-efficient lighting, a new air extraction system, and a fire detection system. The car park is expected to reopen before Christmas, providing much-needed additional parking spaces in the city centre.

Mark Hewett, Director at Scoop, expressed his enthusiasm for the new developments: “We’re delighted to welcome both H&M and Starbucks to Thistles, Stirling. These popular brands have committed to long-term contracts, cementing their commitment to the city and will generate local jobs. Footfall at Thistles is currently running ahead of last year’s figures and these new additions should serve to increase footfall further. Both brands are a great addition to the range of retailers already available at Thistles, Stirling, and we know they will prove popular with shoppers.”

Darren King, UK Store Development Director for Starbucks, also commented on the new opening: “Starbucks is committed to giving back to the communities we serve, supporting local regeneration and growth, as well as bringing the iconic Starbucks experience to a wider audience. We’re excited to open a new store in Thistles and we look forward to welcoming the local community very soon.”
