Primark Expands International Footprint with Four New Store Openings

Primark has reached a significant milestone in its global expansion, opening four new stores across four countries in a single day. The new locations—Glasgow, Scotland; Tours, France; Madrid, Spain; and Queens, New York—represent a combined investment of £37 million and add 130,000 sq. ft. to Primark’s retail footprint. These openings also bring 580 new jobs, underscoring the brand’s role in boosting local economies.

Celebrating its 55th year in business, Primark now operates 457 stores across 17 countries.

Primark CEO Paul Marchant described the milestone as a testament to the company’s international ambitions, stating:
“This is an exciting time in our growth journey and a first for Primark. Opening four stores across two continents on one day highlights the scale of our global ambition, helping more people to look and feel good for less. With 580 new jobs created, we know these stores not only give a boost to the local communities, but they also bring what we call the ‘Primark halo effect’ to the shopping destinations— which is the positive impact of the footfall to our stores on surrounding businesses. A huge thanks to all of our colleagues and partners who have worked so hard to get these stores open for the busy festive season.”

  1. Queens Center, New York, US
    • The Queens store is Primark’s 10th location in New York and its second in the borough of Queens.
