The Handbag Clinic is strengthening its partnership with Selfridges by launching two exclusive pop-up events this month. The luxury aftercare and preowned retailer will bring its full-service model—‘Buy, Sell, Restore, Authenticate’—to Selfridges Manchester Trafford from 21st to 23rd March, followed by Selfridges Birmingham from 28th to 30th March.

These pop-ups, located within the RESELFRIDGES edit, highlight The Handbag Clinic’s circularity model, enabling shoppers to trade in unwanted designer handbags for Selfridges gift vouchers, purchase fully authenticated preowned luxury bags, or restore and protect their existing leather goods.

The Handbag Clinic Expands Luxury Resale and Restoration at Selfridges

The Handbag Clinic’s pop-ups will offer a curated selection of preowned and vintage handbags, luggage, and accessories from brands including Fendi, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Chloé, and vintage Chanel. Each piece is professionally assessed, cleaned, and authenticated before sale, ensuring customers receive items in exceptional condition.

Shoppers can also take advantage of the Clinic’s ‘Circle Back’ programme, guaranteeing a buy-back for up to 12 months post-purchase, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable luxury. Clients seeking a more personalised experience can book a one-on-one consultation through Selfridges Personal Shopping to explore the full range of restoration and authentication services.

Comprehensive Handbag and Leather Repair Services

The Handbag Clinic’s artisans will provide expert repair and restoration services for luxury leather goods, including handbags, luggage, shoes, trainers, and leather clothing. Services include:

  • Deep cleaning and conditioning treatments
  • Removing stains, scuffs, and tears
  • Replacing broken zips, split piping, and worn edges
  • Colour restoration and leather protection treatments
  • Reinforcing bag structure and stretched straps
  • Specialist brand-specific restorations, such as refinishing Louboutin’s signature red soles or restoring Balenciaga’s rope-finish detailing

Customers can drop off their items at the Selfridges pop-ups, where aftercare specialists will assess the requirements before sending them to The Handbag Clinic’s Luxury Clinic for expert restoration.

The Handbag Clinic Advance Circular Fashion with Innovative Techniques

Restoring over 700 handbags per month, The Handbag Clinic has developed unrivalled expertise in luxury aftercare. Its artisans specialise in premium materials, including Chanel lambskin and exotic leathers, and the Clinic is known for pioneering restoration techniques in collaboration with chemists and material scientists. These innovations ensure the highest-quality results while supporting the brand’s mission of sustainable luxury.

Charlotte Staerck, CEO and Co-Founder of The Handbag Clinic, expressed excitement about the expanded partnership:

“We are so excited to be building on our partnership with Selfridges to bring The Handbag Clinic to an even wider community of luxury enthusiasts. Manchester and Birmingham are two of the most exciting shopping destinations in the UK and home to discerning communities of luxury investors. They understand that true circularity begins with what we already have in our wardrobes. By repairing these items and prolonging their lifespan, or by trading them in, they can continue to get their newness fix whilst being kind to their wallets and the planet.”

The Future of Sustainable Luxury at Selfridges

The Handbag Clinic first launched as a permanent concession at Selfridges London in April 2024, following a successful collaboration for The Stock Market at the Corner Shop in 2023.

Selfridges continues to integrate circular fashion into its offering, with preowned, new, and sustainable collections coexisting seamlessly within the RESELFRIDGES accessories department across all stores.
