Timberland has opened its first standalone store in the North East at Metrocentre in Gateshead.

The 2,567 sq ft store is located in the centre’s Upper Red Mall Timberland unit and presents the brand’s footwear, clothing and accessories offer across men’s, women’s and kids’ categories. The opening gives Timberland a dedicated presence within one of the region’s major retail destinations.

The store includes Timberland’s heritage collections, with outerwear and footwear forming a central part of the offer. According to the project information, the product range includes waterproof jackets, walking boots, backpacks, beanies, denim, chinos, joggers, hoodies, sweatshirts, overshirts, T-shirts, polos, shorts and sandals.

The interior has been developed to reflect Timberland’s outdoor heritage and connection to craftsmanship. The scheme uses oak, leather and concrete detailing, aligning the physical environment with the brand’s positioning around durability and everyday outdoor style.

Hollister has also opened at Metrocentre, with a 6,000 sq ft store in Lower Red Mall. The opening is described as the brand’s largest regional store and adds another international fashion operator to the centre’s Red Mall offer.

Timberland’s arrival forms part of wider leasing activity at Metrocentre. The centre has also seen recent or planned activity involving brands including Urban Outfitters, Stradivarius, Hollister, KENJI, Levi’s and New Look.

The Timberland opening extends Metrocentre’s fashion line-up and gives the brand a dedicated regional store in the North East.
