Urban Outfitters has agreed a lease for 8,500 sq ft of retail space within Sheffield City Council’s Heart of the City regeneration project.

Working alongside asset management partner RivingtonHark, Sheffield City Council confirmed that the fashion and lifestyle retailer will occupy a unit at the bottom of Pinstone Street. The letting forms part of the wider Heart of the City regeneration project.

Urban Outfitters will join Superdry, Fjällräven, Søstrene Grene, Bird & Blend Tea Co., Weekend Offender and Lucy & Yak within the development’s mix of international, regional and independent retailers.

Heart of the City Retail Mix

The 1.5 million sq ft regeneration project has introduced shops, bars, cafés, restaurants, leisure uses, apartments and townhouses to Sheffield city centre. It also includes more than 330,000 sq ft of occupied workspace.

Sheffield City Council and RivingtonHark said the combination of retail, hospitality, residential and commercial uses is serving the city centre’s business, residential and student communities, generating regular footfall and sustained spending while supporting Sheffield’s 24-hour economy.

“It is great to see the momentum surrounding our Heart of the City project shows no signs of slowing down, as we see another retailer secured to move into the development. This builds on recent openings to increase the retail offer in Heart of the City. Our aim was to transform and regenerate the area of the city centre, bringing people back into Sheffield and we’ve done just that. The city centre is a fantastic place for people to live, work and enjoy.”

Sean McClean, Director of Regeneration and Development, Sheffield City Council

The letting follows a series of retail openings and commitments across the regeneration project as the council continues to develop its city-centre offer.

“At RivingtonHark we are a trusted partner among local authorities for delivering long-term value across complex regeneration projects. We are currently working with 10 local councils across the UK to deliver vibrant destinations and together with Sheffield City Council we have helped transform the city centre into a flagship location for offices, retail, leisure, and F&B operators. With international brands such as Urban Outfitters queuing to become part of Heart of the City, complimented by cutting edge regional and independent brands, we look forward to announcing more new arrivals as we continue to transform the city centre.’
