The British Fashion Council (BFC) has proudly announced that Charlotte Tilbury MBE, the esteemed beauty entrepreneur and founder of Charlotte Tilbury Beauty, will be honoured with a Special Recognition Award for her significant contributions to the fashion industry. This prestigious accolade will be presented at The Fashion Awards 2023 (TFA), presented by Pandora, scheduled for Monday, 4th December at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall.

TFA, orchestrated by the BFC, not only serves as the principal fundraiser for the BFC Foundation but also as a celebration of fashion’s intersection with culture and entertainment. The event shines a spotlight on creative talent, narrating the year’s fashion stories through the lens of purpose, excellence, and creativity. Tilbury is being recognized for her visionary and innovative approach to beauty, which has set global trends, transcended runway and red carpet appearances, and reshaped the beauty industry.

The Special Recognition Award is a testament to Tilbury’s illustrious career, her pivotal role in the beauty campaigns of fashion’s elite, and her establishment of a groundbreaking global beauty brand. With a portfolio that includes over 180 magazine covers and more than 600 editorial and advertising campaigns, Tilbury’s influence is unparalleled. Her work has graced countless fashion shows worldwide, collaborating with over 100 designers and contributing to up to 40 shows a season.

Charlotte Tilbury MBE shared her gratitude: “It is such a huge honour to receive a Special Recognition Award for contributions to fashion, from the British Fashion Council. Britain is a trailblazer in fashion, so inspiring, innovative, and dynamic. I am so grateful to have worked with some of the greatest creative geniuses in the fashion world, from photographers to designers, editors, stylists, icons, and models to create pure beauty magic. From my earliest days working as a make-up artist on shows and editorial, I have seen for myself the transformative power of makeup to help everyone feel and look like their most confident selves, and it has been the honour of my life to share that mission with the world through my brand. I truly believe that when you feel your most confident you can change the world.”

Since launching her eponymous brand in 2013, Tilbury has decoded her artistry into transformative makeup and skincare products, leading Charlotte Tilbury Beauty to operate in 54 markets and garner over 700 awards. Her MBE in 2018 from Queen Elizabeth II for services to the beauty and cosmetics industry is a highlight of her career.

Tilbury’s purpose-driven ethos extends beyond beauty; she is an ambassador for Women for Women International and has been since 2016, supporting women in conflict-affected areas. In 2022, she became the Ambassador of Enterprise for The Prince’s Trust and a Partner of the Clooney Foundation for Justice. Her 2023 holiday collection supports the Rocket Fund by the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of the BFC, expressed excitement: “We are thrilled to honour Charlotte Tilbury MBE with a Special Recognition Award for her incredible contribution to fashion and beauty. Tilbury is a visionary female entrepreneur and one of the most highly regarded and influential makeup artists of all time. As an essential collaborator and trusted partner to many of fashion’s biggest names and creatives, Tilbury has revolutionised the way people perceive and experience beauty in the fashion industry. Tilbury is also a fierce campaigner for positive change, advocating for diversity and inclusion and empowering people across the globe. We look forward to celebrating with her in December!”
