As the anticipation for Black Friday builds, Liberty London, a luxury jewellery retailer, has unveiled a report detailing the UK cities with the most profound affinity for jewellery.

The methodology behind Liberty London’s findings involved establishing a comprehensive list of keywords associated with various metals, gemstones, and jewellery styles. Subsequently, the retailer analyzed Google search data across the UK, tallying the frequency of these terms in each city.

The report reveals a fascinating glimpse into the UK’s luxury jewellery landscape, with Newcastle taking the crown with an overall score of 93.92 out of 100. Following closely are Manchester, Leeds, and Birmingham, with scores of 87.13, 84.71, and 74.91, respectively. Edinburgh and Glasgow also feature prominently on the list, showcasing the widespread allure of luxury jewellery across the nation.

Liberty London’s study goes further to define ‘luxury’ within the context of precious metals and gemstones such as gold, platinum, diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, and rubies. A ‘luxury score’ was calculated to distinguish between general and high-end searches, such as ‘rings’ versus ‘luxury rings.’

The report also sheds light on the most popular types of jewellery, providing inspiration for those seeking the perfect gift. For instance, in London, the pearl necklace reigns supreme, while Birmingham shows a preference for diamond rings. Manchester and Newcastle share an affection for pearl necklaces and chains, respectively, and Glasgow stands out with its choice of charm bracelets.
