Castore, the sportswear brand founded in 2015 in Manchester, has announced the opening of a new store in Derbion. The brand has signed a 10-year lease for a 1,771 sq ft unit located on the second level of the centre, adjacent to Foot Locker.

Known for supplying leading sports teams such as the England Cricket Team, Red Bull, McLaren Formula One teams, and football clubs including the Republic of Ireland, Rangers, Bayer Leverkusen, and Everton, Castore specialises in precision performance sportswear. Their products are noted for their unique fabric blends and have undergone rigorous testing by elite athletes to ensure technical superiority.

Scheduled to open in August, the new store will feature Castore’s collection of men’s and women’s sportswear, as well as sports team-branded clothing from Red Bull Racing, England Cricket, and McLaren Formula One. This addition aims to broaden Derbion’s sports and fitness retail offerings, which already include established brands such as JD, Lids, Sports Direct, and Foot Locker.

This development follows the recent announcement that JD will expand its presence at Derbion, doubling its current space to 20,175 sq ft. The expanded JD store will offer a variety of major sports brands, including Adidas, The North Face, Jordan, and Nike.

Beth McDonald, Managing Director at Derbion, commented, “Castore has significantly expanded in recent years in response to increasing demand from customers seeking high-quality performance sportswear. It is fantastic that Castore will be joining the line-up at Derbion, and with the recent opening of JD’s new flagship store, we have first-hand experience of how leading sportswear brands continue to attract a wide array of shoppers to Derbion.”

She added, “Castore’s arrival is a testament to Derbion’s progressive leasing strategy which has reaffirmed the centre’s position as the East Midlands’ premier retail and leisure destination. The strategy has been effective, customers are responding with their feet and Derbion’s reputation is helping it to attract more big-name brands such as Castore.”

Pete Alecock, Commercial Director at Castore, expressed his excitement about the new store opening, stating, “We are really excited to be opening our latest store at Derbion as we look to bring our quality array of sportswear to Derby shoppers. Since launching in 2015, we have undertaken a large expansion which has included opening stores in thriving retail destinations across the UK. Derbion’s fantastic array of big-name brands means it brings in shoppers from across the East Midlands making it the perfect place for our first store in the city.”
