Fred Perry And Scott King Launch An Inventory Of Detail

An Inventory Of Detail is a limited-edition 60-page publication from Fred Perry and British art director Scott King, examining how detail shapes personal preference and identity.

The publication brings together responses from a range of people asked to identify “a detail that has, in some way, defined you”. Conceived and designed by King, the project presents these contributions alongside images of classic Fred Perry items.

The concept is based on the idea that individual choices are shaped by preference, and that preference is often determined by detail. The publication connects this theme to Fred Perry’s own design codes, including the Laurel Wreath embroidery and the details associated with its polo shirts and wider product archive.

An Inventory of Detail considers the niche and personal ways in which people connect with the details they choose every day, from buttoning a Fred Perry polo shirt to the significance of a lyric, film or garment.

The publication also reflects the importance of design detail to Fred Perry, which has used the Laurel Wreath and other distinctive codes as part of its visual identity for almost 75 years.

An Inventory Of Detail will be available from 14 May at Fred Perry shops globally, free of charge, and with online orders at fredperry.com while stocks last.
